The greatest memories I have took place in my CLASSROOM. These memories were the blessings I received from participating in the lives of so many young people who were at a crossroad in their lives.
Memories
Lost or found, memories live on
Sometimes forgotten
Sometimes remembered
do with them what you wish
for they are yours to possess
Amazing the irony that a student's writing under my tutelage at the beginning of his life's journey would now give me direction and focus at this point in my life's journey!
The TEACHING that took place in my classroom was always a two-way street. Yes, I taught the lessons, but my students also taught me. I learned various ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Particularly in the section on Priceless Gifts, I learned the trials and difficulties that many students dealt with behind the faces that looked at me while I was teaching. Indeed, it was a two-way street.
It is the KIDS that make up this tapestry. Woven through are sparkling strands of student poetry, yarn bits of priceless gifts, interlaced stories from the classroom, and chords of lessons and teaching strategies that empowered students to become independent learners.
